The characters are rather interesting, with Diana leaving her lesbian lover Vesta, to be with the male Janus, after they disagree on the future of the stellae. There is even a description of a new disembodied “Stella” and what that experience is like for the stellae stars. There is nonstop action, some sex, and a little gore (nothing really graphic). For instance, is this Earth in the future, or another planet? I wasn't clear on that, but the story is vivid nonetheless. This was a fun and fascinating tale, but I was left wishing a I had a little more detail into the background of this world. He meets Diana, a woman who runs the psychopump and controls the souls that are released into the stellae. Janus is a biohacker determined to destroy the stellae and re-establish order.
